The Art of Ina Centaur |
My "Art in Black & White" series shows an amalgam of people I saw while wandering the inner city streets of London, San Francisco, Boston, and San Diego. I first started sketching these purely black and white pieces about a year ago -- via a Sin City-like Flash cartoon series code-named Eva. After seeing the movie Sin City, I delved into the graphic novels of Frank Miller, and... one night, I started doodling on my Intuos2 12x12... and Eva Rosenbaum was born! Stylistically, I've attempted to weave in a film-noir-ish atmosphere into every piece -- the limitation to black and white helped! Skill-wise, every single piece in this series was sketched in five minutes or less. I hope I've succeeded in conveying both the essence and paradoxical elegance of the inner city denizens. —Ina Centaur
